Band (Thurston)
The Olympia Christian Homeschool Group offers a homeschool band opportunity for it's members. They offer three, 11 week sessions (Fall session 9/14 to 11/30) for Beginners or Intermediate level students. The classes meet Tuesday afternoons at a church in Lacey for 1 hour. No experience is necessary for the Beginning level. The cost is $60/session per family. There is an additional $6/session charge for each child after the first two. Parents may participate for FREE! Chorus (Thurston)
Olympia Youth Chorus meets Tuesdays at the United Church in Olympia. Level I, open to all singers, meets at 5:30 pm. Level II, by audition only, meets at 6:30 pm. Classes are open to children ages 8 to 14 with unchanged voices. Fee is $200 for the full year. For information call 705-0959.
Drama Class (Thurston)
Classes offered each fall (current session 9/29 to 12/8), at The Abbey Players Scene Shop Space on Rich Road in Olympia. Abbey Players is a non-profit community theater group that endeavors to focus on family friendly theater. The class is offered for children ages 8 to 18, and will center on a theme from classic literature. All students will work on all aspects of theater. Kinder Pals (Lewis & Thurston)
A group for four to five year olds and their moms to get together to share simple lessons, crafts, story time, and fun field trips. The group meets each Tuesday from 10am to 11am. Physical Education (Thurston)
Brigg's YMCA in Olympia offers homeschoolers classes each Tuesday and Thursday from 1pm to 3pm for an hour of swimming and an hour of P.E. each day. There are two ages groups, 6-9 and 10-14. Parents are expected to volunteer at least one session a year in both the pool and the gym. Cost is $37 per 6 weeks for full members, $55 per 6 weeks for basic members. Scouting Groups
Cub Scouts (Thurston)
Cub Scouting is for boys in first through fifth grades. The program teaches boys many useful skills and gives them the opportunity to get together with other homeschool boys on a regular basis. They meet each month from September through May on the first and third Fridays of each month, from 1pm to 3pm at a local church. Swimming Lessons (Lewis)

Boy Scouts
Dads are needed in the Olympia/Lacey area who are willing to mentor Boy Scouts and supervise activities. The present goal is to form a homeschool troop immediately following Boy Scout Summer Camp in July 2000. Any homeschool families who would like to join in the effort can call David Raines at 493-0784.
Science Club
The science club program is created and taught by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), and the meetings would be held in our area. The science activities could be for a group as broad as Preschool through 5th grade. Tentatively, the cost is $60 per child per 6 week program, with a minimum of 10 kids.
